Comment-only submissions in 2023 and 2024, formal support in July 2026. The council models refusal at 2,984 jobs and $4.795 billion of output in Singleton alone.

The decision on mining Hunter Valley Operations to 2042 and 2045 has slipped. The Commission asked for more time on 27 August
The IPC is deciding two applications to continue the HVO North and South open cut mines, about 430 million tonnes of coal running to 2042 and 2045. Submissions closed on 5 August. On 27 August it sought further information and an extension of time.

The Tomago deal is a generation deal. It underpins nearly 3 gigawatts of new build
The $2.5 billion package was reported as a jobs story. Read as an energy document it commits to nearly 3 GW of new renewable generation and firming, a demand-response programme at Australia's largest single electricity user, and turns on a contract expiring 31 December 2028.

Snowy Hydro says testing issues stopped Kurri Kurri starting on diesel. Its own calendar now shows no testing at all in August
The community updates page moved on 14 August and added a sentence it did not carry before. The schedule beside it marks every day of August as no planned testing, with diesel testing on one generator resuming 31 August. And the schedule is published only as an image, so a screen reader gets none of it.

A 750 MW power station is burning diesel overnight at Kurri Kurri. That is what final commissioning looks like.
Snowy Hydro’s own schedule for the final diesel-testing phase, the sentence on its page saying the impacts of recent testing are under investigation, the 1,100-hour licence cap that defines what a peaker is, and the weakest gas quarter since 1999.
