The masthead
Advertise with us
The Connection Point is funded by advertising rather than by its readers, which is why it is free. For organisations working in or around energy in the Hunter, this page sets out the offer, the limits and the rates. If you would rather just ask, the advertising enquiry form is here.
Who reads it
People who want to understand the Hunter's energy transition on the evidence: the generators and their closure timelines, the transmission and renewable energy zone work, the market and reliability picture, and the postcode-level install data, each reported against the primary source it came from. It is a considered, technically literate readership that will follow a citation to its source and form its own view. We do not inflate our own numbers any more than we would yours. Ask and you will get the real figure.
The real figure
Published here rather than kept back for the enquiry. It is read from our own server-side logs and regenerated, so it does not drift out of date between the writing and the reading.
| Page views from a search engine | 20 |
|---|---|
| All Australian page views | 136 |
| A reasonable reader estimate | 20 to 98 |
| About, per week | 5 search-referred views |
Measured over the 30 days to 2026-08-27, from our own server-side logs. These are page views, not people: we run no cookies and no client-side script, so unique visitors cannot be counted and we will not quote you a number we cannot stand behind. The lower figure is the floor we are confident in. The range subtracts an estimate of our own visits, measured against staged mastheads nobody can reach.
Two ways to advertise
Clearly labelled display advertising. A slot that is marked as advertising and sits outside the reporting entirely. Your message, your wording. It is not shaped to resemble a story, and it does not touch the editorial.
Sponsored editorial. We write it and we check it, to the standard the rest of the site meets, and it says it is sponsored wherever it appears. Claims stay linked to their source and figures keep their date, because this readership will check both. It works when there is something to report: a project hitting a real milestone, work you have completed, data you are willing to show. It is not a page of adjectives, and it does not buy you a side in a debate this masthead covers without taking one.
What we will not do
Independence is the mechanism by which your message reaches anyone here, so we keep it whole. No invented or paid-positive reviews. No greenwashing, and no spin presented as reporting, which on this beat is the request we field most often. The byline, the angle and the conclusion are not for sale; the labelled placement is. Anything requiring us to overstate a figure, mislead on a timeline or leave an interest unstated is refused, with reasons. An audience that checks sources is precisely the audience that cannot be sold to dishonestly twice.
Disclosure, every time
Where a commercial relationship exists, it is stated plainly, at the point it matters. That serves the advertiser first: a technical reader who works out for themselves that a piece was paid for discounts the whole of it, and the company in it by extension. Declared properly, the same piece holds up. The law requires this, and the practice would stand here without it.
Rates and how to enquire
The floor for a sponsored piece is $450, most sit near $600, and not-for-profits and community organisations start at $150. Data-led work, meaning a real dataset, an authored chart and a methodology note, starts at $1,100, in proportion to the work it takes.
A display box runs from $80 a month, usually about $120, three months at a time. The readership is technical and small, and the number is on the page, so treat a box as visibility among the right people rather than volume. If reach is the point, the sponsored piece is the one that keeps earning after the month is up.
Rates are on the page rather than behind an enquiry, which suits the readership here. This is a technical audience: engineers, planners, people who will open the regulatory determination you are citing and check it. A piece that cannot survive that does you damage rather than good, so the work we charge for is largely the sourcing and the verification. That is not quick, and a rate that pretended otherwise would attract the wrong brief.
There is nothing binding in an enquiry. The advertising enquiry form reaches us directly: outline the organisation and the brief, and we will reply.
Our sourcing rules and disclosure practice are set out in full at how this site works.
