Privacy

The short version: reading this site tells no one but this site that you read it, and telling us something in confidence stays in confidence.

Reading the site

  • No third-party requests. A page here loads nothing from anyone else’s servers: no analytics scripts, no tracking pixels, no social widgets, no font CDNs. The typefaces are served from this site.
  • No advertising trackers. If and when labelled advertising appears, it will be served as plain content from this site, not through an ad-tech network.
  • No cookies for reading. We set none to serve you a page.
  • Like any website, our hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare) processes standard request logs, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We do not use them to profile readers.

Sending us something

  • Identity is optional for tips and corrections. The forms work with no name and no email, deliberately: requiring identity kills the tips most worth having.
  • What you submit is stored securely and used only to assess and follow up the tip, correction or enquiry it belongs to. It is never sold, shared or published.
  • Attached files are private. Uploads are stored privately, deleted automatically after 30 days, and never linked or published. They are treated as evidence to verify, nothing more.
  • If you give us an email address, we use it to reply about the thing you sent, and for nothing else. There is no mailing list.
  • For the advertising form, contact details are required because it is a business conversation; they are used for that conversation only.

Sources

If you tell us something in confidence, protecting you comes ahead of the story. We do not publish identifying details of a confidential source, and we prefer to verify claims through public documents precisely so stories never depend on exposing the person who pointed us at them.

Questions

Ask through the contact forms; a privacy question sent as a tip reaches the same desk.
